Security Forces Foil Terrorist Ambush In Kebbi, Kill Five Insurgents

Major General Bemgha Koughna, GOC 8 Division, led a decisive operation to foil a deadly ambush by suspected Lakurawa terrorist Group (LTG) near Mayama Hill in Kebbi State. The GOC’s convoy was en route to visit frontline troops when it came under heavy fire from armed terrorists.

Demonstrating exceptional leadership, Major General Koughna and his troops responded with overwhelming firepower, neutralizing five terrorists and repelling the ambush. A sweep of the area yielded a significant cache of weapons and intelligence materials, including:

– 1 OJC Gun

– 1 PKT Gun

– 2 AK-47 Rifles


-30 AK-47 Magazines

– 1 Bandolier of PKT Ammunition

– Several rounds of 12.7mm Ammunition

– ₦840,000

– 2 Mobile Phones

– 5 Motorcycles

The operation disrupted terrorist plans and secured the area. Troops remain deployed and vigilant, maintaining dominance to prevent further attacks. The 8 Division Nigerian Army remains committed to protecting civilians and eliminating terrorist threats in the North West region.
