The Crude Oil Refinery Owners Association of Nigeria (CORAN) has announced that the Nigeria Oil Refining Summit (NORS) 2026 will hold on 28–29 September at Eko Hotels & Suites, Lagos, with a mandate to fast-track the country’s pivot from fuel importer to net exporter of refined petroleum products.
Now in its third edition, NORS is positioning itself as Nigeria’s principal forum for expanding refining capacity, deepening downstream integration, and advancing the national ambition to become Africa’s leading energy hub.
“The future of Nigeria’s refining sector lies in collaboration, investment, and execution at scale. NORS 2026 provides the platform to consolidate these gains, attract critical partnerships, and position Nigeria as a net exporter of refined petroleum products,” CORAN Chairman Momoh Jimah Oyarekhua said.
Held under the theme “Refining for Value: Linking Upstream Supply to Downstream Demand”, the two-day summit will gather policymakers, regulators, refinery operators, global commodity traders, investors, and technology providers to tackle coordination gaps across the petroleum value chain — from crude production to product distribution.
Nigeria’s refining landscape is shifting. The start-up of large-scale projects such as the Dangote Refinery, combined with growth in modular and indigenous plants, marks a decisive move away from decades of dependence on imported fuels toward self-sufficiency, higher domestic value retention, and regional export potential.
Against that backdrop, NORS 2026 will address four priorities: securing sustainable crude feedstock, optimising refinery utilisation, strengthening midstream infrastructure and logistics, and unlocking investment across the refining ecosystem.
The programme blends high-level keynotes, policy dialogues, investment forums, and technical sessions featuring NNPC Limited, NMDPRA, NUPRC, and major global trading firms. Day one will centre on policy direction, crude supply security, and global market dynamics; day two will focus on financing, infrastructure, and export strategies. An exclusive guided refinery visit will give attendees firsthand exposure to operational standards in Nigeria’s expanding sector.
“Our focus this year is on outcomes. We want attendees to leave not just informed, but better positioned to act, partner, and invest within Nigeria’s rapidly evolving refining landscape,” said Kunle Odusola-Stevenson, Chief Strategist at Legend and Legacy Group, producers of NORS 2026.
CORAN is inviting organisations across the value chain to engage as sponsors, partners, speakers, and exhibitors, framing the summit as a convening point for long-term value creation in the downstream sector and the broader African energy market.
