Countdown to WPRF Abuja 2026: NIPR Mobilises Chapters for Nationwide Awareness Campaign

By Danjuma Amodu

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has commenced a nationwide mobilisation for the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) Abuja 2026 with a directive to all state chapters to hold simultaneous road shows on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The directive, contained in a circular issued by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Chief Uzoma Onyegbadue, fnipr, was authorised by the President and Chairman of Council, Dr. Ike Neliaku, fnipr, on the recommendation of the National Planning Committee for WPRF Abuja 2026.

According to the Institute, the road shows are intended to take the WPRF message to all parts of the country, generate broad-based awareness, drive registration and participation, and underscore the strategic role of public relations in building Nigeria’s reputation at home and abroad.

The circular directs each chapter to organise a visible and impactful road show within its state, tailored to local realities, resources and partnerships. Chapters are expected to mobilise members, young professionals, media organisations, students of public relations and mass communication, and other relevant stakeholders.

Planned activities include processions with WPRF Abuja 2026 branded banners and placards, radio and television appearances, press engagements, social media activation, engagements with government and corporate institutions, and public sensitisation at strategic locations.

Chapters have been encouraged to secure live and recorded coverage from local media partners and to strictly use approved WPRF Abuja 2026 logos, graphics, audio-visual materials, hashtags and key messages provided by the National Secretariat through the NIPR community platforms.

Where feasible, chapters are to involve senior state officials and influential stakeholders to boost visibility and local ownership of the campaign.

To ensure accountability and nationwide coordination, each chapter is required to comprehensively document the exercise with photographs, short videos, media reports and social media links, and submit a report to the National Secretariat not later than close of business on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

The report is expected to detail the number of participants, locations covered, key stakeholders engaged, media organisations involved, estimated public reach, registration leads generated, visual highlights and recommendations arising from the exercise.

The Institute urged chapter chairmen and executive committees to take full ownership of the assignment and ensure the road shows are professionally coordinated and consistent with the dignity and image of the NIPR.
