The Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) has reached a significant milestone, achieving 5 million man-hours without fatality or Lost Time Injury (LTI).

The Project Coordinator, Professor Nenibarini Zabbey, attributed this achievement to the project’s dedication to safety standards and good HSE culture.

Speaking at the formal celebration, Prof. Zabbey expressed joy and congratulated everyone who contributed to this feat.

“Today, we are celebrating the people behind the success, including management, staff, contractors, and field workers,” she said.

However, we must continue to adhere to HSE rules as they protect people and the environment, reduce accidents and incidents, improve productivity efficiency, save cost, and enhance the reputation of HYPREP.

The Project Coordinator commended HSE officers, site nurses, civil security, community workers, and contractors for their roles in ensuring site safety. She reminded everyone that the project is like a relay race, and each person must hand over the baton properly for the next person to succeed.

Engr. Ehioze Igbinomwanhia, Renaissance Africa Energy company/JV Representative in HYPREP, congratulated HYPREP and the workforce, noting that 5 million man-hours without fatality or LTI is outstanding. He reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting the project and providing technical and financial support.

Paramount rulers and Chiefs from the communities, including HRH Benedict Tenalo, Paramount Ruler of Bomu Community, commended HYPREP’s achievement and appealed for strict monitoring of contractors. They reassured HYPREP of their commitment to ensuring peace in the community and all sites of HYPREP’s operations.

Contractors and community workers expressed appreciation to HYPREP for the opportunity to work on the project, promising to continue adhering to high safety standards and regulations.

The HYPREP HSE Lead, Boma Eddie-Amadi, attributed the safety milestone to the commitment and consciousness of all task bearers.

The event was attended by paramount rulers, community leaders, and HYPREP officials, who commended the project’s safety record and community engagement.

The Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) is a Nigerian government initiative aimed at cleaning up oil-polluted sites in the Niger Delta region. The project is focused on restoring the environment and promoting sustainable development in the affected communities. HYPREP has been working to remediate the environmental damage caused by oil pollution, with a focus on safety and community engagement.
