I.D. Ijele Declares Readiness to Work for Muri Ajaka in APC, Signals Major Political Shift

By Danjuma Amodu | January 18,1026

A prominent political figure, I.D. Ijele has publicly declared his readiness to work for Murtala Yakubu Ajaka (Muri) within the All Progressives Congress (APC), signalling what could be a significant realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a strongly worded statement, Ijele suggested that even the mere mention of Muri’s possible defection to the APC has already unsettled political opponents in Kogi State.

“They are already shaking at the mere mention of your name being linked to APC,” he wrote, describing the development as a potential “game changer” in the state’s political landscape.

Ijele emphasised that politics demands strategy over sentiment, warning that hesitation could leave many “politically stranded” if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu consolidates power.

He noted that Muri has recently enjoyed unprecedented access and engagement with Tinubu, a recognition that should not be dismissed as coincidental.

“To my dear followers and political sympathisers, do not allow yourselves to be deceived by mischievous elements who are afraid of progress,” Ijele cautioned, dismissing narratives that portray Muri as selfish.

He argued that leaders must sometimes make tough and unpopular decisions to secure long-term benefits for their people.

Aligning his position with examples of bold political manoeuvring, Ijele referenced Governor Fubara’s courage, urging supporters to remain “firm, focused, and united.” He added,

He concludes thus; “I will be glad to see Muri in APC today. Politics is dynamic. Strategic alignment is strength.”

Though no official confirmation of Muri’s defection has been made, Ijele’s statement has already stirred debate across party lines, with many viewing it as a signal of looming shifts in Kogi’s political equation.
