The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Thursday convened a high‑level meeting with the Executive Secretary of the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), Mr Mohammed Ibrahim, to deepen collaboration on evidence‑based agricultural development across the country.
The Statistician‑General of the Federation opened the session by reaffirming the Bureau’s commitment to supplying timely, credible and high‑quality data to underpin policy‑making and investment in the agricultural sector.
Mr Ibrahim, in his remarks, stressed that NADF, Nigeria’s first agricultural development fund, will anchor its financing decisions on solid statistical evidence. “Our operations must be firmly guided by data,” he said.
This underscores the importance of reliable information for effective resource allocation and sustainable growth, he added.
The meeting marks the launch of a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening the use of official statistics to support agricultural financing, policy implementation and the development of a resilient, data‑driven agricultural ecosystem in Nigeria.
Both agencies agreed to establish regular data‑sharing protocols, joint analysis teams and capacity‑building workshops to ensure that agricultural programmes are monitored and evaluated with robust statistical tools.
The collaboration is expected to enhance transparency, attract private‑sector investment and ultimately improve productivity and food security for millions of Nigerian farmers.
