President Tinubu Congratulates NIPR on Historic Global PR Triumph

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) on winning the 2025 Global Public Relations Association award at the World Public Relations and Communication Award in Lisbon, Portugal.

The President lauds the leadership of NIPR’s President and Chairman, Dr Ike Neliaku, and Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, for their role in securing the honour.

NIPR beat 89 entries from 19 countries to win the award, which was announced on February 19, 2026. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), disclosed this in a statement.

“The achievement is a resounding endorsement of Nigeria’s growing influence and professionalism in the global public relations and strategic communications ecosystem,” President Tinubu said.

He commended NIPR’s transformative reforms and international engagement, as well as the Federal Ministry’s policy direction and institutional support.

The award recognises Nigeria’s capacity for ethical communication, public trust-building, and national reputation management. President Tinubu expressed confidence that NIPR will continue to advance excellence in public relations practice and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting institutions that elevate Nigeria’s image internationally.

He noted that the award reflects NIPR’s transformative reforms and international engagement, as well as the Federal Ministry’s policy direction and institutional support.

“The recognition underscores Nigeria’s capacity to set benchmarks in ethical communication, public trust-building, and national reputation management,” he said.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that NIPR will continue to advance excellence, innovation, and integrity in public relations practice, contributing to national development through effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
