AYODELE JOSEPH BABALOLA has etched his name in gold as the Overall Best Graduating Student of Ahmadu Bello University, achieving an exceptional CGPA of 4.92 in Computer Science.
He received the award at the 45th convocation ceremony in Zaria, along with a ₦10 million SEPP scholarship from Sunbeth Global Concepts’ Excellence Partnership Programme.
The ceremony featured an address from President Bola Tinubu, who spoke on the importance of stable academic calendars and power supply, represented by the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo chaired the pre-convocation lecture delivered by WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. Many cheered the achievement, noting it could inspire students in Nigeria’s challenging education system.
Joseph’s achievement showcases the power of hard work, focus, faith, and resilience. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, awarded a Doctor of Science, Honoris Causa, praised the university’s contributions to nation-building.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed described ABU as Nigeria’s most cosmopolitan university, producing leaders and technocrats.
ABU is one of Nigeria’s oldest and most prestigious institutions, with a reputation for academic excellence and notable alumni.
The 45th convocation ceremony marked a milestone, highlighting the university’s commitment to fostering talent and excellence.
