Unit Chairmen hail orderly election held on Wednesday, 26 August 2026 in Abuja and urge new executive to prioritise welfare, training and government collaboration

Unit Chairmen, other Executives and Members of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN, across Ministries, Departments and Agencies have congratulated the newly elected Unit Executive Committee of the ASCSN in the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation following a peaceful election held on Wednesday, 26 August 2026 in Abuja.
This was contained in a statement issued by the ASCSN Media and Publicity Committee and made available to newsmen in Abuja.
The leadership and membership described the exercise as transparent, orderly and reflective of the union’s commitment to internal democracy and unity among members in the civil service.
All positions were returned unopposed with the exception of the office of Secretary, which was keenly contested. Comrade Azeez Aireononi emerged the winner for that position..
Members who participated were commended for the high turnout and for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the poll. The leadership noted that the outcome would strengthen service delivery and workers’ welfare in the Office of the Head of Civil Service.

The new Executive Committee is expected to serve a term focused on staff welfare, training, and engagement with management on issues affecting senior civil servants.
The elected officers are Comrade Ameh Sylvester Abah as Chairman, Comrade Bello Mohammed Lawal as Vice Chairman, Comrade Azeez Aireononi as Secretary, Comrade Edua June Stephen as Treasurer, Comrade Hauwa D. Usman as Ex-Officio I, Comrade Idris Babanwachiko as Financial Secretary, and Comrade Thelma Bieni as Ex-Officio II.
The Unit Chairmen and members further pledged their support to the new executive and called on all members to work together in synergy to advance the objectives of ASCSN within the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation. The statement concluded with the union’s slogan: “Aluta Continua! Victoria Acerta!! Solidarity Forever!!!”
