Service-wide Chairmen of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN, drawn from Ministries, Departments and Agencies, on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mr Abel Enitan Olumuyiwa, to congratulate him and pledge the union’s support.
The delegation, led by Comrade Sylvester Ameh, Chairman of ASCSN in the Office of the Head of Service, said the visit, coming barely a week after Mr Olumuyiwa’s assumption of office, was to formally align with the new leadership and reaffirm the union’s commitment to the welfare of civil servants nationwide.
Speaking on behalf of the Chairmen, Comrade Dr Chika Ukachukwu, Chairman, ASCSN, FMI&NO, commended the Head of Service for his antecedents and expressed confidence in his ability to drive reforms. She pledged the “total loyalty and support” of ASCSN to the new administration.

Presenting the expectations of workers, Comrade Ameh urged the HCSF to sustain efforts towards improved welfare packages, better conditions of service, clear career progression and a more conducive working environment.
He noted that the morale and productivity of the civil service remain critical to the successful implementation of government policies.
In his response, Mr Olumuyiwa thanked the Service-wide Chairmen for the goodwill and assured them of his commitment to integrity, due process and transparency in the management of the Civil Service.
He called on labour unions and all public officers to recommit to the EPIC values underpinning the ongoing reforms. EPIC stands for:

“Let us be driven by service, not by selfishness or greed. Let our motivation be the satisfaction we give to the citizens we serve. Public service exists for the people,” the Head of Service said.
Mr Olumuyiwa added that reforms being driven by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are targeted at repositioning the civil service for greater efficiency and improved staff welfare. He pledged to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor and reiterated that his office would maintain an Open Door Policy for continuous engagement with union leaders.
The meeting ended with both parties expressing optimism about a stronger working relationship to enhance service delivery across the Federation.
