The Northern Youth Association of Nigeria (NYAN) has passed a vote of confidence on the Minister of Works, Engineer Dave Nweze Umahi, in recognition of what it described as his outstanding performance and commitment to Nigeria’s infrastructure development.
The National President of the Association, Comrade Godiya Adams, stated this in Abuja during a media briefing, saying it followed what he called an objective and independent assessment of the Minister’s performance since assuming office.
Comrade Adams said the Association was impressed by the Minister’s leadership, commitment to road infrastructure renewal and efforts at accelerating the completion of strategic federal road projects across the country.
He commended the Minister for introducing reinforced concrete pavement technology on selected federal highways, describing the innovation as a significant step towards constructing more durable roads capable of withstanding heavy traffic and harsh weather conditions.
According to him, the technology is expected to extend the lifespan of federal roads, reduce maintenance costs and ensure better value for public funds.
The NYAN President also applauded the Minister’s commitment to quality assurance, adherence to engineering standards, effective supervision of contractors and improved project monitoring, which he said had restored public confidence in infrastructure delivery.
Comrade Adams further praised Engineer Umahi’s focus on economically strategic road corridors, equitable distribution of infrastructure projects across the country’s geopolitical zones, and his engagement with stakeholders, host communities and professional bodies.
He maintained that the Minister’s accessibility and regular updates on ongoing projects had enhanced transparency and accountability in the Federal Ministry of Works.
The Association described Engineer Umahi as one of the best-performing ministers in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing confidence that his leadership would continue to drive infrastructure development, economic growth and national integration.
Passing the vote of confidence, Comrade Adams reaffirmed the Association’s support for the Minister’s efforts to transform Nigeria’s road sector through quality project delivery, innovation and transparency.
He called on Nigerians to support ongoing infrastructure projects, stressing that national development requires collective commitment and cooperation.
The Association also urged the Federal Government to sustain policy, financial and institutional support for the completion of ongoing road projects and expansion of the nation’s transportation network.
Comrade Adams reaffirmed NYAN’s support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and commended the President for appointing Engineer Dave Umahi as Minister of Works.
In his remarks, the Secretary-General of the Northern Youth Association of Nigeria, Comrade Aboas Imam, also commended the Minister’s performance, saying his achievements had demonstrated commitment to effective service delivery and national development.
The event was attended by members of the Northern Youth Association of Nigeria, student leaders, representatives of civil society organisations and members of the media.
