INEC Relaunches Nationwide Voter Registration, Phase Two Officially Underway

By Danjuma Amodu

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) resumed its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across Nigeria, marking the official launch of Phase Two of the nationwide drive.

Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman Adedayo Oketola confirmed that registration centres reopened nationwide on Monday, January 5, 2026, following the conclusion of Phase One on December 10, 2025.

However, CVR activities remain suspended in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) due to ongoing electoral activities. New dates for resumption in these areas will be announced in due course.

INEC explained that the interval between the two phases was utilised to carry out statutory activities required by law, including the display of the voters’ register for claims and objections.

“In accordance with Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2022, the display of the register of voters for claims and objections was conducted from December 15 to 21, 2025, at local government area offices where the CVR exercise took place,” the commission stated.

As of November 28, 2025, a total of 2,572,054 registrations were fully completed nationwide, comprising 1,503,832 online completions and 1,068,222 physical registration

INEC urges eligible Nigerians who have not yet registered to take advantage of this opportunity.

Registered voters are also encouraged to verify their details, report any errors or discrepancies and raise objections to the inclusion of ineligible or deceased persons on the register

Registration hours according to INEC are from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday, at any of the 811 CVR centres nationwide, including all Local Government Offices and INEC State Offices..

INEC reminds citizens that multiple registrations are illegal and punishable under electoral law.
