By Ann Mathew Jato | February 19, 2026

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and MTN Nigeria have launched free WiFi services at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Terminal 2, Lagos, and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, as part of a public-private partnership.

The service, which is completely free for passengers and airport users, will be extended to the MMIA temporary terminal and other international airports across the country within the next three months.

This was announced via FAAN’s verified official X (formerly Twitter) handle in a press release signed by Henry Agbebire, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection.

The launch was officiated by FAAN’s Managing Director, Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, represented by Director of Airport Operations, Captain Abdullahi Mahmood, and MTN Nigeria’s Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Lynda Saint-Nwafor, who represented CEO Mr Karl Toriola.

Captain Mahmood described the launch as a milestone for FAAN, modernising infrastructure and strengthening Nigeria’s digital economy. In the same vein, Saint-Nwafor assured users of reliable, secure, and efficient service.

The launch of free WiFi services at MMIA Terminal 2, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, is expected to significantly impact Nigeria’s aviation sector. The service will improve passenger experience, promote digital inclusion, and boost economic growth. It will also position Nigeria’s airports as a regional travel hub, showcasing effective public-private partnership between FAAN and MTN Nigeria.

This initiative modernises infrastructure, improves digital economy, and enhances passenger experience, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo’s transformation drive.

The service will be extended to other international airports, including Port Harcourt, Kano, and Enugu, within the next three months.
