Olamaboro Students Applaud Erico’s Victory in APC Senatorial Primary

By Danjuma Amodu

The National Association of Olamaboro Students says Chief Dr. Joseph Erico’s win reflects growing youth backing ahead of the Kogi East contest.

The National Association of Olamaboro Students (NAOS) has congratulated Chief Dr. Joseph Erico on his victory in the All Progressives Congress senatorial primary for Kogi East, describing the outcome as a vote of confidence in his leadership.

In a statement, NAOS National President Comrade Akwu Thankgod said the result showed the trust people have in Erico’s vision and commitment to the progress of Kogi East and Kogi State more broadly. The association pledged to work with him “day and night” to push for greater development, empowerment and opportunities for residents, particularly students and young people in Olamaboro.

NAOS had mobilised support for Erico in the weeks leading up to the primary, arguing that his record on youth engagement and pledges on education and employment made him the strongest candidate to advance student welfare and regional development. Student leaders held meetings and outreach drives across Olamaboro Local Government Area, framing the contest as an opportunity to secure greater youth representation in state and national politics.

The group also thanked everyone who contributed to the campaign, saying dedication and unity had made the win possible. “Congratulations to Olamaboro! Congratulations to Kogi East! Congratulations to Kogi State!” the statement read.

A member of Chief Dr. Joseph Erico’s campaign team welcomed the endorsement, saying the team was grateful for the trust placed in him by students and other stakeholders. “This victory belongs to the people of Kogi East. Dr Erico remains committed to an inclusive agenda that prioritises job creation, education and infrastructure for all communities in the zone,” the team said.

APC chieftain Danjuma Onoja also congratulated Chief Erico on the win, calling it evidence of his tenacity, hard work, perseverance, vision, and the trust voters place in his leadership. Onoja urged party faithful to sustain their support ahead of the general election.

Details of other contenders in the APC primary and the final vote tally have not been made public by the party at the time of filing this report. The APC is expected to release the full results and list of aspirants in due course.

The Kogi East senatorial seat is expected to be keenly contested in the general election, with youth mobilisation likely to play a significant role in determining the outcome.
